Here we are, right in the middle of the wedding season! At Richmond Silver, we have seen over the years the wedding gifts that are most commonly purchased. One such item is the hallmarked silver Quaich dishes which are also known as Scottish Loving Cups. They have been traditionally used by the Scots at weddings, to offer a welcoming drink. The Quaich dish is a drinking vessel with two handles soldered on to opposite sides.

Silver photo frames have also proved to be very popular with us, and continue to stand the test of time. We manufacture all of our beautiful photo frames, along with the rest of our products, by hand in our UK factory.

Silver coasters are also a main seller during this time of year and add elegance to any dinner table, with their hand-turned mahogany bases and full english hallmark on display.

Silver gifts we sold in the past have now shifted from enamelled ladies dressing table sets with heavy engraving, engine-turning and ornate candelabra, to these much more in vogue products.

All of the products we sell are solid silver and as a result they need caring for. Tarnish and patina are quite different. The patina effect creates a soft, radiant finish that well looked after silver items develop. This is due to silver acquiring very small marks each time it is used. These marks are part of the living finish of silver and should be prized as the piece matures over time.
